Year-round Charm for Visitors
Genoa, it is believed, was the first permanent trading post established by Mormon traders from Salt Lake City in 1851.  When visiting, be sure and take in the history of this lovely town by visiting the Mormon Station Memorial State Park & Museum, the Genoa Courthouse, Genoa cemetery, and the Hanging Tree.

The famous Candy Dance is a lively, annual event featuring vendors, local candy-makers, art and music. Approximately 10,000 people visit the town of Genoa during this September weekend event. Genoa also hosts an annual Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival during the Spring. If you enjoy a western flair from food to poetry & music, then this is the event for you.

While enjoying a leisurely meal or strolling through the local shops, watch for the mule deer as they quietly come down from the trees on the west side of Genoa to graze on local vegetation or fields near the Carson River.  If you are driving through the town, please observe the local speed limits!

Prefer golf to shopping?  No problem, be sure and visit Genoa Lakes Golf Course in Genoa or Genoa Lakes Golf Resort north of the town!
